Éditions Caramel SA is a profitable, independent, and truly international children’s publishing company based in Brussels. Caramel specializes in creating and producing children’s books for a worldwide client base of publishers. The company has a catalogue of over 4,000 titles; in 2021, more than 120 titles were published in 42 countries.
Caramel creates a wide range of children’s books, ranging from colouring books to encyclopaedias. The list includes board books, activity books, pre-school educational books, sticker books, and short illustrated story books. Caramel is probably best known for its expertise in preschool educational books and children’s encyclopaedias.
The ethos of the business is that children should have fun while learning, and the books all reflect this philosophy. The company is acutely aware of the competition from screen-based products, taking a great deal of care to maximize the fun element of titles.
The customer base consists of publishers and large distributors worldwide. Caramel books have been translated in more than 50 languages, and sold in more than 65 countries. The company has a flexible business model through the outsourcing of the total printing production to printers in the Far East.
