While our study with almost 6,000 Belgian employees on teamwork showed that the Belgian employee has a positive relationship with co-workers, this is less the case in regards to their management:
- Almost 1/3 feels like their manager does not acknowledge their good results.
- 33% of Dutch speaking employees versus only 25% of French speakers feels like they don’t get recognition.
- 1/4 of Belgian employees states that they can’t approach their manager sufficiently.
The Dutch speaking employee feels less recognized than their French speaking counterpart
Overall, 30% of the Belgian employees feels like their team management doesn’t recognize good results or extraordinary effort at work.

If we look at the language split, there is a significance difference in percent points between the French & Dutch speaking employees.
As shown in the graphs, “only” 25% of French speaking respondents feels like management does not acknowledge their positive results at work. On the other hand, more than 33% of Dutch speaking employees feel the same way.
One in four of Belgian employees feels like they cannot approach their manager sufficiently
Not only is there a problem of recognition for some Belgian employees, apparently there are also some grievances communication-wise. Another key finding shows that 26% feels like they cannot approach their management sufficiently to discuss problems or difficulties.
