Software Development Engineer

Amazon Transportation Services Europe (ATS EU) Network Planning team is responsible for Amazon’s transportation network’s connectivity across Europe that delivers billions of shipments each year. The team collaborates with multiple internal teams (e.g. Supply Chain, Finance, Tech, Retail) to create the optimal routes between origins and destinations to assure reliable package delivery to our customers at the fastest and cheapest way possible.

We are looking for a detail-oriented, highly analytical, innovative, hands-on, technically skilled, and customer-obsessed Software Development Engineer who will help in developing a best-in-class middle mile network for the European Marketplace to deliver high quality customer experience while minimizing cost and improving fulfillment speed. The candidate will also lead the volume management effort for Sort Centers across Europe.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
• Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
• Proficiency in, at least, one modern programming language such as C, C++, Java
• Experience with scripting for automation (e.g., UNIX Shell scripting, Python, Perl, Ruby)
• Understanding of SDLC methodologies, SCRUM, Waterfall
• Experience in data engineering / business intelligence space
• Strong understanding of ETL concepts and proficiency in writing SQL working with large data volumes
• Experience designing and operating very large Data Warehouses
• The ability to comfortably and confidently present to all levels within the enterprise and to work with both technical and non-technical individuals.
• Results oriented person with a strong delivery focus who can work independently and collaboratively with global teams
• Fluency in English is required

Preferred Qualifications

• Past Software Development Engineering experience in a related industry.
• Master’s degree or equivalent in Logistics / Supply Chain / Mathematics / Science / Engineering / Business Development.
• Knowledge of machine learning, data mining, and predictive modeling
