Elia is the operator of the Belgian high-voltage transmission grid (380 kV to 30 kV) and is responsible for developing and maintaining the grid, providing users with access to it and controlling energy flows. The Elia group is a team of 2,000 professionals who have the task of ensuring the continuity of electricity supplies in Belgium.

Your responsibilities
The Elia Group encompasses two major transmission system operators (TSOs) in two European regions: Elia Transmission in Belgium and 50Hertz Transmission, one of the four German TSOs in northeast Germany.
Both TSOs operate at the heart of the European electricity system as they provide vital links between the various electricity producers and their 30 million end users. The Group's high voltage network, with its intricately meshed 18,600 km grid, transports the electricity generated by the producers to the distribution system operators and major industrial consumers. In addition, interconnectors with several neighboring countries allow electricity trade in wider European energy markets.
In maintaining and building the transmission infrastructure of tomorrow, Elia Group acts at the forefront of the energy transition. To translate the opportunities and challenges of the energy transition into strategic initiatives, company roadmaps and strategic transformations, Elia Group is currently looking for a Senior Strategy Analyst to reinforce its Strategy team.
The Strategy team is responsible to shape the strategy and future initiate possible growth initiatives based on an assessment of trends and future opportunities and challenges.
We are looking for an individual who is curious by nature, able to lead a project team in an international context, possess strong analytical skills and is comfortable in managing complex files in close collaboration with C-level executives.
The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience, has prior experience in strategy development in a complex, fast-changing international environment, knowledge of the energy sector as well as experience in digital transformation.
FUNCTION:
As a Senior Strategy Analyst, you are part of a team in charge of:
Strategy definition and execution
- Support the CEO and Management Team in defining the strategy of the organization at different time horizons
- Ensure translation of this strategy in clear roadmaps for the different business units
- Follow-up and challenge the execution of these roadmaps
Manage strategic projects
- Lead or support company-wide transformation projects (post-acquisition integration, digital transformation…)
- Drive negotiations in setting up strategic partnerships with third parties
- Drive ad-hoc strategic files on new technologies or market developments (e.g. Electric Vehicles, Artificial Intelligence, Power-to-Gas,…)
Business intelligence
- Update and refine the business intelligence process to capture key evolutions in regulation, technology, business models,… and translating these into strategic insights and actions
- Monitor technology evolution and business model evolution. Find answers to key questions associated with the energy transition
- Dissemination of business insights towards the wider organization
Inorganic growth
- Support the Mergers & Acquisitions team in analyzing investment opportunities in and outside Europe in order to ensure alignment with the Group's strategy
Your profile
The following skills are requested for the function:
- Master's degree in engineering or commercial engineering
- "Can do" attitude and natural entrepreneurship
- Strong sense and experience of complex stakeholder management
- Fluency in English. Knowledge of French, Dutch or German is desirable
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills, combined with a sense of realism. Ability challenge ideas and critically consider different options
- A strong sense of ownership and ability to work in a dynamic and fast-changing environment
- Strong communication and synthesis skills
- Team spirit combined with a capacity to work autonomously in an international environment (willing to spend a few days per month abroad to work out projects in collaboration with international partners and companies of the Group)
- At least 5 years of relevant experience for the position
- In-depth knowledge of the organization of the energy market in Belgium and in Europe and of the core businesses of Elia Group companies is an asset
- Last but not least, passion for energy and strong desire to shape the energy transition
