Job summary
Within the R&D Team, you will research and develop novel components and integrated component products for the delivery of injectable drug products.
In this role you will create a vision and strategy for future components. Using fast-cycle product development, you will focus on developing an in-depth understanding of specific market segments and driving the development of product solutions to address unmet needs.
You will also cultivate an innovative culture for early development projects in the packaging components team.
Your responsabilities
- As Manager Product Development (m/f/d), one of your main tasks will be to plan, conduct and direct novel component projects
- Besides defining and executing novel component development with novel materials, you will perform critical and objective appraisals of the data generated
- You will lead the development proof of concept test beds and methods to evaluate key performance criteria
- To develop a deep understanding of performance characteristics, you will define performance criteria and testing modalities
- In addition, you will advise team members on manufacturing methods for prototyping and production
- It will be on you to cultivate an innovative culture for early development by mentoring engineers in their understanding of product development and innovation methodologies
- You will support the direct packaging components team and their manager in maintaining and reporting on the early development strategy for the packaging components group
- To stay up to date with trends and materials, you will build and foster successful cooperation with external networks like suppliers and universities, as well as knowledge centers
Your qualifications
- You have a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or comparable with proven years of experience in product design or development – minimum 10 years
- To be successful in this role, you have a sound knowledge of elastomers, plastic and rubber with a background in medical device or pharmaceutical industry
- In your roles you demonstrated proficiency in CAD modeling, project management and deep experience in leading development programs
- You know how to organize and communicate technical ideas and concepts while dealing with multiple technical projects and varied stakeholders
- You are a team player (m/f/d) with experience in driving projects from the idea to reality while working in international teams
- To find your way in our dynamic environment, you are able to make quick informed decisions under pressure and challenge existing and new ways to act and think
- As you interact at all levels, you are a strong communicator (m/f/d) in English. German skills or willingness to learn is positively evaluated
- You are willing to travel up to 10% internationally to West facilities, suppliers, technical conferences and trade fairs
