The Head will lead and supervise a team of professionals, providing them with advice, guidance and direction towards their career development.
The ideal candidate should have an advanced university degree in International Relations, Law or European Affairs and several years of responsible professional experience in an intergovernmental setting. Knowledge of contemporary science policy issues and experience in interaction with political stakeholders are required. The ability to understand complex political concepts and act upon them in a timely manner is essential. A thorough knowledge of diplomacy, protocol, and ability to deal with sensitive matters and circumstances is also required.
The Head will have the ability to negotiate at senior level in bilateral and multilateral negotiations with governments and international organisations. The post holder will have strong analytical skills and the ability to identify problems and offer options for solutions. They will demonstrate the ability to work in a multicultural environment and to maintain effective working relations with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. Full fluency in English is essential.
