HVAC Technician

The U.S. Embassy in Brussels is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of HVAC Technician in the Facility Management Office.

The Office Building Maintenance Team (OBMT) HVAC Technician is responsible for maintaining 9,000,000 dollars of both European and U.S. Models of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning equipment spread across 23,000 square meters of functional space on the Embassy Compound. The OBMT HVAC Technician performs hands-on Journeyman Level HVAC trade duties on sophisticated building systems and equipment. The job holder works in team of five located in Zaventem.

Education:   Secondary school degree and technical training as a Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technician.

Experience:  At least 3 years of Journeyman level experience in the HVAC trade.

Job Knoweledge:  : Thorough knowledge of the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning trade at a journeyman level.  Basic computer skills to include the Microsoft software suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).  

Language Skills:  Speaking, reading, and writing: Level 3 (good working knowledge) in Dutch or French, and level 2 (working knowledge) in English.

Skills and Abilities:  Must have a valid G1, G2, G3 and L certificate for gas burners and liquid fuels in the regions of Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia.  Must have the ability to perform most tasks with minimal supervision.  Must be able to read and understand drawings and technical manuals.  Must have a valid class “B” driver’s license.  Must be able to lift 35 kg.
