Your responsibilities
Main responsibilities & key tasks
Within the field of mechanical engineering, you are responsible for the integration of process lines and construction/upgrade of machines.
You lead projects
You play a role as team member/manager of subprojects for mechanical concept, design, construction, commissioning, and handover
You assist project engineers/managers in addressing the mechanical engineering aspects of their project. You take on the role of sounding board or challenger (e.g. layout of line concept, layout of machine specifications)
If necessary, you take on the role of technical specialist for machines in B.I.G. projects
You advise on choices of manufacturing technology, ‘Make or buy’, New or second hand
You investigate the applicability within B.I.G. of new concept and design technologies, and introduce them (e.g. simulation)
Within the infrastructure domain, you are responsible for investment projects such as the construction of sites, expansion/ modification of existing sites or in the relocation of assets between sites.
You lead projects
You take on the role of team member/manager of sub-projects for the scope infrastructure, utilities and/or construction works from concept to final delivery and handover
As a project manager, you will have the following duties:
Lead and coordinate projects from concept to final handover
Propose concept, technical specification, project plan and budget, and submit to client for approval. For larger projects, or if required by law, work with an architect, design firm, etc.
In consultation with the project owner/client, you will assemble the project team, ensuring that the necessary knowledge and skills are available for the project
You oversee the design by external partners, and challenge their design
You are responsible for the selection of a sufficient number of competent external partners for the physical realization of the different parts/locks of the project, allowing for an effective and transparent tender procedure
In cooperation with the procurement department, you organize the tendering procedures, so that the procurement process within the project runs in an effective and transparent way
You monitor throughout the project the conformity of the implementation with the technical specifications, the progress versus the project plan and the cost/expenditure versus the budget. You guarantee that the project is realized according to the project objectives and you take care of the official reporting
You are responsible for the complete As-Built documentation, for the formal handover to the manager/operator of the infrastructure or machine, as well as for organizing the necessary training
Your profile
Competencies and skills
You have a Master degree in electro mechanics
You have 5 to 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering (design and/or construction). You have minimum 2 years of experience as a project engineer. Additional training in project management is a plus
You are organized, pro-active, goal oriented, hands-on, autonomous
You are resilient, mentally agile, a team player and have good communication skills
You can negotiate well and report in a structured way
You are willing to travel frequently within Belgium and Northern France in the context of projects or travel sporadic internationally in the context of B.I.G. worldwide projects (generally limited to 1 week)
