Job description:

What you will do
Deploy and maintain a successful government relations strategy and plan in Europe which reflects the organizational goals and priorities of Johnson Controls and our strategic government relations and regulatory affairs plan. Build and maintain positive company relations with EU policy makers, including EU government representatives and their staff, policy leaders and program managers, as well as industry stakeholders. Support Johnson Controls (JCI) business units in carrying out strategies to achieve their financial plans. Advocate for JCI positions and articulate our thought leadership with policy makers and industry stakeholders. Support JCI efforts to drive innovation industry with government policy makers.

How you will do it
* Educate EU public policymakers on issues and initiatives that support and advocate for our industry and business.
* Create and maintain a positive leadership image and business climate for JCI among EU government policymakers.
* Coordinate with JCI Regulatory Affairs team on strategies and matters involving and needing government relations.
* Engage with JCI business units in strategic planning and prioritization.
* Work proactively with JCI business development and sales staff to develop business opportunities.
* Work with JCI business units to resolve EU government related issues and problems when they occur.
* Utilize JCI executives and subject matter experts to help educate EU government policymakers.
* Manage and maintain positive relationships with our European industry associations and appropriate NGOs, and play a leadership role in those associations to leverage their influence on behalf of JCI.
* Work with JCI Marketing and Communications staff on PR issues involving government matters.
* Manage major company events, high profile meetings and visits with EU government officials.
* Communicate Government Affairs mission and work with JCI leadership and across the business units, as appropriate.

Required profile:

What we look for
Required Qualifications
* Educated to a Degree level
* A proven track record and leadership experience in European Government Relations and or Public Affairs.
* Previous Government Relations and or Public Affairs experience working in Brussels.
* Excellent knowledge and understanding of EU policy/regulatory environment and of the mechanics of EU decision-making.
* Established political and policy networks in Brussels or at Member State level.
* Experience in leading EU and/or Member State advocacy programs on complex technical and policy legislation/regulation.
* Excellent communication skills with management at all levels and customer management skills are required.
* Fluency in English

Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Political Science or International Affairs.
* Experience leading a Public Affairs office in Brussels.
* Industry experience in Energy Efficiency, Sustainable Energy, Electronic Security or Fire Life Safety.
* Fluency in French or another language
* Previously developed networks and relationships with industry associations such as: European Partnership for Energy and the Environment (EPEE), European Building Automation and Controls Association (eu.bac), Eurovent, EuroAce, Euralarm, European Fire Sprinkler Network, European Heat Pump Association (EHPA),The European Association for Storage of Energy (EASE), AMCHAM Belgium, AMCHAM EU, The European Alliance to Save Energy (EU-ASE), The Smart Buildings Alliance (SBA), smartEn, The European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic), The European Committee of Manufacturers of Electrical Machines and Power Electronics (CEMEP), European Heating Industry (EHI), DIGITALEUROPE, The Alliance for the Internet of Things Innovation (AIOTI), Association of European Automotive and Industrial Battery Manufacturers (EUROBAT) or European Committee of Electrical Installation Equipment Manufacturers (CECPAI).
